At Arch Carpentry, even the smallest upgrades can make a big impact—especially when it comes to finishing details like ceiling texture. We were recently contracted by a wonderful couple of realtors to help with their personal home in Juno Beach, Florida, and the focus was one very specific (and very visible) area: the stairwell ceiling on the second floor.
The Challenge
The existing ceiling had an outdated, yellowing texture and an old vent that had long been closed off from above. It created an eyesore in an otherwise well-maintained home. The homeowners, especially the wife, wanted a cleaner, more modern look with a fresh knockdown ceiling texture.
The Arch Carpentry Approach
We started by removing light fixtures and carefully scraping and sanding the old texture to reduce high spots. From there:
We removed the unused vent and patched the hole with new drywall
Alec with Arch Carpentry taped, mudded, and skim-coated the entire ceiling to achieve a smooth, even surface
Once everything was dry, we applied a beautiful knockdown texture—subtle, clean, and modern (even if the camera doesn’t quite do it justice!)
Finally, we primed, painted, and reinstalled the lighting, giving the stairwell a completely refreshed look
The Results
What was once a dated, mismatched ceiling is now a seamless, bright, and contemporary feature of the home. The transformation was so well received that the homeowners immediately invited us back to work on other areas of the house.
Why It Matters
Modern ceiling textures can completely elevate a space, especially when paired with clean drywall work and quality finishing. It’s attention to detail that makes the difference—and that’s exactly what Arch Carpentry delivers.
