At Arch Carpentry, we’re often called in not just to improve homes—but to protect the people living in them. That was exactly the case with a recent project, where we were hired to repair rotting siding on the gable end of a home—specifically the area between the upper and lower rooflines.
The Concern
The existing T1-11 siding had deteriorated to the point where it looked like it was falling off the house. With young grandkids often playing nearby, the homeowner knew it was time to address the issue before it became a safety hazard.
What We Did
We got to work right away:
Removed all rotten siding and trim
Disposed of all debris properly, and thoroughly cleaned the area—including a magnet sweep for leftover nails
Waterproofed the wall to ensure long-term protection
Installed brand new fiber cement T1-11 siding, which won’t rot like wood
Finished by painting the new siding and trim to match the existing color for a seamless, unified look
The Results
The repaired section now looks brand new—clean lines, solid materials, and most importantly, safe and water-tight for years to come. The homeowner can rest easy knowing the area is secure and future-proofed against rot and weather damage.
Built for Longevity
At Arch Carpentry, we believe in solving the problem—not just patching it. By using fiber cement instead of wood, this client won’t be dealing with the same rot issues again anytime soon.
