Today, I’d like to share a bit about two recent projects I completed: building a hidden Murphy door and designing a fireplace mantle that blends shiplap, rough cedar timber floating shelves, and shaker cabinets. Both projects were exciting challenges that combined functionality with style.
For the hidden Murphy door, the goal was to create a seamless, functional design that doubles as storage while blending perfectly with the room’s decor. I focused on precision in the framing, hardware installation, and finish work to ensure the door operated smoothly while staying hidden in plain sight.
The fireplace mantle project aimed to enhance the living space with a modern yet rustic look. I installed clean, white shiplap to frame the fireplace for a minimalist backdrop. Then, I added rough cedar timber floating shelves for a warm, natural touch. Paired with custom-built shaker cabinets for both storage and balance. Each piece was carefully chosen and crafted to create a cohesive, inviting atmosphere.”
These projects were rewarding not just because of the final results, but because they pushed me to combine creativity, precision, and craftsmanship. They reflect how functional design and aesthetic detail can truly transform a space.
